The Tri-State area is known for its first-rate schools, which are expanding every year to accommodate the new students moving into the area. The area schools include: Port Jervis City School District, Delaware Valley School District, Minisink Valley Central School District and Montague Township School District. These schools have a long history of providing outstanding educational environments for their students.

Adult education is especially prominent, and is responsible for producing a well-trained workforcefor which the area is known. There are many higher education facilities in the region, including teh amed United States Military Academy at West Point. Celleges offering a two-year degree program are Orange County Community College in Middletown, which has an off-site campus at Port Jervis, and Sussex County Community College in Newton, NJ. The area also has several colleges that offer four-year and master's degree programs. Vocational and trade schools are in close proximity to Port Jervis.
