Wellsville is located 10 miles north of the Pennsylvania border, straddling the Genesee River, just a short drive South of both Buffalo and Rochester.

Wellsville encompasses more than 22,000 square acres and is situated in the south-central region of Alleghany County. As the largest township in the county, Wellsville's town and village population numbers approximately 8,200.
