Annual events attract many visitors from around the country and around the world. During the third week of July, tens of thousands of spectators come to see 40 to 50 hot air balloons color the sky at the annual Great Wellsville Balloon Rally. This rally is one of the few rallies in the country that allows spectators a close-up view right on the launch field. In between launches, visitors can enjoy the Main Street Festival, with more than 100 crafters and vendors as well as food and entertainment.

Wellsville is the place to be if you are an angler. The Greater Wellsville Fishing Derby is held each spring on the last weekend of April. Anglers have the opportunity to win tens of thouands of dollars in cash prizes by catching tagged trout.

Hikers and runners take to the hills surrounding Wellsville on the third Sunday in October while participating in the Ridgewalk & Run. A truly unique event, the Ridgewalk & Run provides participants the opportunity to partake in their choice of 2-mile, 6-mile or 9-mile walks, or competitive runs of 5k, 10k or a 14-mile trail run while enjoying the spectacular vistas and bright autumn foliage.
