Burke County’s Blue Ridge HealthCare, the county’s second largest employer, is committed to quality healthcare for area residents and visitors. A dramatic new $100 million expansion program at Grace and Valdese hospitals includes new outpatient centers, pediatric units, cancer center, Magnetic Resonance Imaging and CT systems. Beside these growing hospital facilities, Blue Ridge Healthcare provides long-term care facilities, a retirement center, and wellness programs. The combined hospitals have 62 family practitioners and 115 medical specialists on staff as well as a total of 376 beds.
Emergency Medical Service is available throughout the county around the clock. At any time of the day or night there are five ambulances ready for service as well as a sixth back-up vehicle.
