Johnston Health – Clayton is now open! This is a $30 million medical center that includes an emergency department, diagnostic imaging and lab services, and two operating rooms. The medical center is located on N.C. 42 West, near the intersection with Amelia Church Road. On the same site, a three-story office building for doctors and specialists is now open.
More important, Johnston Health has plans to expand Johnston Medical Center–Clayton into a full-service hospital. Toward that end, the governing board of the hospital has asked state regulators for permission to move 27 acute-care beds from Smithfield to Clayton.
Clayton also is home to a satellite medical office of WakeMed (a major Raleigh hospital) and a number of family and specialty physicians, dentists, optometrists, chiropractors, urgent care, physical therapists and assisted-living centers.
Johnston County offers many healthcare options, while the Triangle area is home to several large medical centers that provide extensive primary and specialty healthcare, including Duke University, WakeMed, Rex Healthcare and UNC Chapel Hill hospitals.
