Town of Clayton NC
The Town of Clayton operates under a Council-Manager form of government, which consists of a mayor and five council members. The mayor and all council members are elected from the population at large. The mayor’s term is four years, while the council members serve staggered four-year terms.
The Clayton Town Council meets at Town Hall on the first and third Monday evenings of the month at 7:30 p.m. All meetings are open to the public.
Appointed boards (made up of residents who volunteer their time and expertise) meet as required. These include a Board of Adjustment, Planning Board, Downtown Development Association, Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee, Library Board and Fire Advisory Board.
Johnston County is governed by a seven-member Board of Commissioners elected from districts. The county employs a professional county manager who acts as the chief administrative officer. For information call the Johnston County Manager’s Office at 919-989-5100.
