Education
Children in Garner attend schools in the Wake County Public School System. The system is made of more than 156 schools, some 16,000 teachers and staff, and thousands of volunteers working together to educate our students. Two Garner schools (East Garner Middle School and Garner Magnet High School) were recently accredited by the International Baccalaureate Program, an academically rigorous Switzerland-based curriculum focusing on preparing young people to become productive citizens living and working in a global economy.
Within the immediate area are 10 colleges and universities with a combined enrollment of nearly 75,000 students. Most of these institutions offer both day and evening classes, which are open to full and part-time students. These institutions include large research universities, private colleges, and seminaries. Additionally, two area community colleges have a combined enrollment of almost 20,000.
