Children in the Topsail Area attend either Dixon Schools or Topsail Schools depending on the county in which they reside. Both school complexes are located on the mainland and include elementary, middle and high schools. Bus service from the island is provided.

Community College offerings are available at Coastal Carolina Community College in Jacksonville or Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington with classes also offered on the Hampstead Campus. The University of North Carolina, Wilmington campus is a popular four year college. All are within an easy driving distance of Topsail.
