The Hudson City Schools, located in the heart of historic Hudson, is one of the top ranked public school districts in the state. The district serves 5,500 students and is comprised of the City of Hudson and small parts of Boston Heights Village, Boston Township and Northampton Township. In a unique educational setting, all Hudson schools are centrally located on two campuses.

Driven by the district’s mission statement and comprehensive strategic plan, the Hudson community, students, parents and educators share the responsibility for producing graduates capable of succeeding and making positive contributions in a rapidly changing world. Hudson City Schools provide an outstanding educational program for all children that maximizes the intellectual, physical and social development of each child in a safe and nurturing environment.

The Hudson schools have long been a source of pride and a true cornerstone in the viability and development of the community. Dedicated to serving children, the school district offers a comprehensive college preparatory curriculum and extracurricular activities that include many advanced opportunities for students. Over 92% of all Hudson graduates attend four-year colleges. Graduating classes accept millions of dollars in scholarship awards, with $50,000 of those awards coming from organizations in the Hudson community. In addition, Hudson schools are home to many award-winning performance groups and have won numerous athletic competitions, including Western Reserve Conference, District, Regional and State Title Championships.

In 1997, the BEST Coalition, an organization made up of industrial and educational leaders, rated Hudson one of the top four school districts in the state for its excellent academic standards.

The Ohio Department of Education presented the Hudson schools with the Asset Building Award in 1999 for its work for safe and drug-free schools. In 2000, Hudson was ranked 16th in the nation for music education, out of nearly 6,000 public schools in all 50 states.

Excellent parochial and private schools are also available in Hudson. Western Reserve Academy, founded in 1826, is one of the nation’s oldest and most respected private, coeducational schools. Situated on 300 acres, Western Reserve Academy students take advantage of the latest educational innovations. Academics are balanced by a spirit of discovery that extends well beyond the classroom. Students are bright and motivated, and take pride in each other and their school.

Founded as a college and preparatory academy by Hudson’s early settlers, Western Reserve Academy enrolls students in grades nine through 12 and a postgraduate year. There are 67 full-and part-time faculty members; over 70 percent hold advanced degrees.

Seton Catholic School provides Hudson elementary school-age children with quality education in a faith-based environment. Curriculum is based on the Diocese of Cleveland. Scholarships and tuition assistance programs are available to help families in need of financial assistance.
