Tuscarawas
County networks its highways with the nation. Linked by Interstate 77,
the highways and byways carry travelers from throughout the United States
who come to visit our valley. Towns
such as Sugarcreek, Gnadenhutten, Zoar and Bolivar lure tourists, while
modern business and industry thrive in Dover, New Philadelphia, Dennison,
Uhrichsville, Strasburg and Newcomerstown.
C entrally
located between the major metropolitan markets of east central Ohio, Tuscarawas
County is ideally suited for access to a wide variety of business and
industry. The convergence of 14 major U.S. and State highways, a municipal
airport, and railroads link the county to Cleveland, 90 miles north; Akron/Canton,
30 miles north; Columbus, 110 miles southeast; and Pittsburgh, 90 miles
east. The Akron-Canton Regional Airport, approximately 35 minutes north
via I-77, provides passenger and cargo services to the nation.
The
county's own airport, Harry Clever Field, features a 3,900-foot, paved
runway accommodating small corporate jets, a charter service, aerial photography
and flight training. Three railroads, R.J. Corman, Ohio Central and Wheeling
& Lake Erie, as well as some 25 motor freight carriers, also serve
the needs of the county's shippers.
