Educational partnerships throughout Tuscarawas County help to provide educational opportunities that run from pre-school through associate, bachelor's and master's degree programs, and on to continuing education for the employees of local business and industry. The Chamber of Commerce's own Business-Education partnership provides many opportunities for cooperation between the educational community and the business world.
Other local districts are served by the Tuscarawas County Educational Service Center, which provides special education, media resources, computer technology and gifted programs. Local districts elementary schools are also served by the Tuscarawas County Public Library's Bookmobile. Newcomerstown Exempted Village School District has two elementary schools, a middle and a high school. Its 69 teachers serve 1,340 students. The Claymont School District serves the twin cities of Dennison and Uhrichsville with six buildings, 132 teachers and 2,418 students. Garaway School District covers the Sugarcreek area. It has five buildings, 69 teachers and 1,367 students.
Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School encompasses the entire county and cooperates with Immaculate Conception Elementary School in Dennison, St. Joseph Elementary School in Dover and Sacred Heart Elementary School in New Philadelphia. Several hundred students are enrolled in the parochial school. Indian Hills Christian School provides Kindergarten through Eighth Grade and serves 130 students. The Tuscarawas County Board of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities (MR/DD) operates Starlight School, for pre-school and school-age children and Starlight Enterprises Incorporated, a facility that offers employment opportunities to MR/DD adults. Assistance in developing life-skills is also provided to all ages by the MR/DD. The Tuscarawas Campus of Kent State University is unique among Kent's regional campuses in being the only one owned by the community where it is located. It offers two-year programs in Arts & Sciences, Nursing, Education, Business Administration and Fine & Professional Arts. Four-year baccalaureate programs are also offered in Nursing and Computer-Aided Design. A master's program in computers is under development. The campus is currently embarked upon a massive building program which will further expand its course offerings and facilities.
