Union Hospital is located between Dover and New Philadelphia.

Twin City Hospital is located in Dennison. Both institutions are locally owned and managed, not-for-profit community hospitals. Union Hospital is located on a 33-acre campus between Dover and New Philadelphia and offers a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical services.

With 700 employees, Union Hospital is one of the largest employers in the county. Strong community support has enabled Union Hospital to maintain a modern facility, state-of-the-art technology, and continue an on-going program of expanding patient care services. The Union Hospital medical staff includes nearly 200 primary care and specialist physicians, attracted to the area by the high quality of hospital services and lifestyle amenities available in the community. Close ties between the medical staff at Union Hospital and physicians at other hospitals in the region help ensure a continuity of care for patients needing specialized surgical or medical treatment.

Recent expansion projects include the new Healthplex, a free-standing contemporarily designed center for physical and occupational therapy, sports medicine, health and wellness programs. The new Regional Cancer Center at Union Hospital is offering cancer patients a local option for their radiation therapy treatments. The Maternity Center welcomes more than 750 babies each year in beautiful birthing suites, warmly decorated in soft colors and oak furnishings. Behind the scenes in each room is the medical technology and fetal monitoring. Only steps away from each suite is a C-section operation room. The Emergency Department is open around the clock, staffed by emergency residency trained physicians and skilled nurses serving more than 30,000 patients each year.

LifeFlight helicopter service is available to specialized treatment centers in the region. Union Hospital has become known in the region for a number of services, including its vascular diagnostic laboratory, vascular surgery program, sleep disorder center, pain management center, and outpatient surgery center at the hospital. Union Hospital cares for patients beyond the hospital through UH Home Care, serving a five-county region. Both Union Hospital and UH Home Care are accredited by the Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations. Same-day surgery is the specialty of the Tuscarawas Ambulatory Surgery center, offering outpatient surgery at a new facility in Dover. The T.A.S.C. includes operating and procedure rooms, pediatric recovery suites, and 23-hour extended stay capability.

For seniors, Tuscarawas County offers many attractive options for assisted living and those needing various levels of nursing care. Ranging from independent catered apartments to skilled nursing care, our retirement and nursing facilities offer a variety of lifestyle choices and support options. Twin City Hospital is licensed for 53 beds and is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). The facility provides a full range of primary healthcare services to the residents of Tuscarawas and surrounding counties and is known for providing quality healthcare with a personal touch. Contributing to the high quality of care provided are the hospital's over 170 employees and its medical staff of over 50 physicians whose expertise includes 18 areas of specialty.

Twin City Hospital offers a full range of inpatient and outpatient services across its 18 patient care departments. Such services include, but are not limited to, the following: surgery, laboratory, cardiopulmonary, radiology, mammography, ultrasound, CT scanning, nuclear medicine, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, home health, same-day surgery, sports medicine, intensive care, dietary counseling, health education, occupational medicine, and a medical specialty clinic. Emergency care is available 24 hours a day, and LifeFlight is also available from the hospital's state-of-the-art helipad. The hospital's Medical Specialty Clinic offers physicians practicing in cardiology; oncology; hematology; pathology; general and vascular surgery; pain management; podiatry; ear, nose, & throat; and occupational health.

Twin City Hospital has serviced the health care needs of area residents for over 88 years. And thanks to the support of community residents, businesses and foundations, Twin City Hospital has been able to make several enhancements during the past few years. The hospital completely renovated its entire facility and is planning more expansions for the future. New state-of-the-art equipment has been purchased for nearly all of the patient care departments, including the purchases of the following major pieces of equipment: a spiral CT scanner, a mammography machine, an ultrasound machine, a cardiopulmonary function analyzer, an EKG, several pieces of therapy equipment, and a telemetry system. In addition, the hospital recently added to its offering of services the Pediatric Wellness Program, Pain Management, Oncology, Hematology, and Fine Needle Aspiration. Tuscarawas County proudly boasts of medical care services beyond those provided by our hospitals. Numerous physicians, dentists, oral surgeons and private care professionals are available. Mental health services and a full range of counseling services are offered through many county agencies.

Also, the Tuscarawas County Health Department and the New Philadelphia City Health Department provide a number of health and safety services to area residents. Harbor House is the county's safe haven for women and their minor children who are victims of family violence. They offer a 24-hour emergency crisis hotline as well as victim support during the healing process. COMPASS is the county's local rape crisis center that is dedicated to the prevention of sexual assault and the support of sexual assault survivors. The agency also offers a 24-hour crisis hotline. Professional nursing and other services are provided through the area's many nursing homes, assisted living centers and its memory care assisted living center. The county also has an active Handicap Society for Better Living. And Hospice of Tuscarawas County provides quality palliative care to area residents. The health needs of seniors are addressed by programs offered by Tuscarawas County Senior Center with headquarters in Dover and satellite centers in five local communities.
