The premier shopping place in the area is the Mall at Fairfield Commons, in Beavercreek. The magnificent enclosed mall features five anchoring department stores: Sears, Parisian, Lazarus, JCPenny, and Elder Beerman. On the concourses of this two-level mall are more than 125 other stores, shops, boutiques, services, and restaurants, plus fountains, quiet areas with benches, and a great amount of greenery. Thirty-two of its stores are unique to the Dayton area. Among the large shopping centers in the eight-community area are Beavercreek Town Center, North Park Center in Huber Heights, Oak Creek Plaza in Kettering, and Country Square in Englewood. Every community in the area has its commercial avenues, dotted with shopping plazas, freestanding shops and restaurants, and a myriad of services. Communities like Fairborn and Xenia, which is detached by distance from the Dayton metropolitan complex, boast a traditional business district filled with locally owned stores, shops, and services. Despite the variety of shopping available in the suburban area, downtown Dayton remains a strong shopping draw, both for its stores and shops and for restaurants and cultural amenities.
