The medical community has joined the university and the high-tech industry as one of our top three major employers. Corvallis functions as a regional healthcare center and enjoys unusually sophisticated health services for a community of its size.
Benton County residents are served by Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, providing special programs to a three-county area with approximately 250,000 residents. Regional services include a Level 2 trauma center, cardiac surgery and cardiology at the new Ralph Hull Regional Heart Center, comprehensive cancer care, neurosurgery, adult mental health and diagnostic imaging. Good Samaritan is part of Samaritan Health Services, a healthcare system encompassing five hospitals, 25 physicians’ clinics and two senior care facilities in Benton, Linn and Lincoln counties. The newly opened Mario Pastega House on the hospital campus provides a comfortable “home away from home” for out-of-area patients and families traveling to Corvallis for medical care.
More than 200 physicians representing 35 specialty areas serve Corvallis-area residents. The largest specialty clinic is The Corvallis Clinic. The Corvallis Clinic has been providing quality healthcare to the region since 1947. Specialists at The Corvallis Clinic are available to provide care for all members of the family, with departments ranging from immediate care to oncology, from obstetrics to pediatrics. Samaritan’s comprehensive cancer care, heart institute and Intensive Care Unit are supported and staffed by The Corvallis Clinic’s specialists, as well as Samaritan’s.
Many more quality physicians practice either with the hospital-affiliated Samaritan Health Physicians or in independent group practices located throughout the city. The fastest growing independent group practice is Corvallis Family Medicine, providing comprehensive healthcare from obstetrics to geriatrics.
