Agriculture
Hermiston is the urban center for a highly varied and productive agriculture industry. Irrigated farms and ranch lands produce potatoes, alfalfa, corn, wheat, onions, carrots, asparagus, mint, peppers, fruit, beef cattle, sheep, llamas, buffalo, horses and the regionally famous Hermiston watermelons, as well as many specialty crops.
The Hermiston area is home to a variety of light industries whose products include frozen food products, manufactured homes, plastic pipe, motor control panels, horse trailers and metal specialties.
