Enjoy golf? Umatilla and Echo each boast exciting golf courses within 10 minutes of downtown Hermiston.
The mighty Columbia River (located six miles to the north) offers many water sports, including fishing, waterskiing, boating, swimming and wind surfing.
Other fishing waters include the Umatilla River, Cold Springs Reservoir and other ponds, both public and private. Pheasant, goose, duck and quail hunting are popular activities in the Hermiston area.
Hermiston has several state parks within close proximity. Nearby “Hat Rock” is named after a distinctive rock monolith noted by Lewis and Clark on their travels. Hermiston is a short distance from the fabulous Blue Mountains, which offer a wide variety of fishing, hunting and camping activities.
In the winter, the mountains are home to excellent snow skiing, snowboarding, tubing, snowmobiling and sledding.
