The City’s Parks & Recreation Department maintains a number of beautiful parks and facilities, and provides the community with an assortment of year-round programs and events. On the south side of Hillsboro sits the widely popular Jackson Bottom Wetlands Preserve. Located along the Tualatin River, this 725-acre preserve features four miles of walking trails, a resource center with a variety of hands-on exhibits and plenty of chances to view wildlife in their natural habitat.
This vibrant community is also host to great options for shopping, dining and entertainment. Residents and guests take pleasure in theatres, galleries, a performing arts center, a symphony orchestra, a chorale and local community arts organizations. Downtown Hillsboro is a great destination highlighted by locally owned shops and eateries, a seasonal farmers’ market and number of exciting community events, including a summertime concert series. Other much-anticipated gatherings happening throughout the year in Hillsboro include the Washington County Fair, the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and the Hillsboro Rotary July 4th Parade – known as one of the state’s largest and best!
