As mayor of Milton-Freewater, I would like to extend a special welcome for you to stop in and visit, or better yet, to stay awhile and enjoy the many amenities you will find in our city. If you are looking for that small-town atmosphere, then you’ve come to the right place.
Our city, staff and citizens take pride in our beautiful library, aquatic center and park, wineries, restaurants and schools. We are surrounded by the beauty of the Blue Mountains, golden wheat fields, apple and fruit orchards, vegetable crops and acres of grapes, all of which make this an exceptional agricultural community.
For special activities to keep you busy, you can golf on our unique hillside course; visit our beautiful Frazier Farmstead Museum, or enjoy our annual Logs to Frogs chainsaw carving extravaganza in July and our annual Muddy Frogwater Country Classic Festival, which is held in August. The festival is noted for its chicken barbeque and corn roast, and features many community organizations, which sponsor a variety of fundraising events. As you enter town, visitors will find a selection of carved frogs at various points along the streets and also at the entries of many of our stores. Picture taking is encouraged!
Milton-Freewater’s close proximity to the Blue Mountains provides yearlong activities for sports fans of all ages. Or, you can take a leisurely drive through the gorgeous mountains and stop for a picnic lunch along the way. You won’t regret having taken the time to relax as you take in their beauty.
Our city is within 15 miles of three colleges located to the north. In addition, there is a local satellite campus of Blue Mountain Community College, with the main campus located 35 miles to the south. The 440 employee Sykes Corporation is also a common workplace for college students. Seasonal employment is available harvesting fruits, vegetables and wheat from spring through fall.
These are just a few of the reasons why Milton-Freewater is a special place to visit or to live. Be sure to stop by our friendly Chamber of Commerce for free information to guide you on your visit to the many special places in and near our friendly town.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
