Wine, Cider and Chocolates

Visit local tasting rooms to taste the fruits of this Eastern Oregon region through several superlative vineyards. Zerba Cellars, a family-operated winery, offers a selection of fine-crafted, award-winning wines from their own vineyard served in their unique tasting room. Zerba Cellars has the distinction of being one of the first wineries in Milton-Freewater.

The Watermill Winery, another popular winery in the area, is located in the historic Watermill Building. The newly renovated tasting room welcomes guests to sample Watermill’s superior wines and also hosts the tasting room for the Blue Mountain Cider Company.

One of only 100 craft cideries in North America—and one of approximately six cideries in Washington and Oregon—Blue Mountain Cider Company produces award-winning, hand-crafted hard apple and other fruit ciders utilizing local fruit exclusively in their cider.

chocolates

Milton-Freewater is also home to Don Carlo Vineyard, one of the many vineyards gracing the rolling hills surrounding the community. Chardonnay wine will be available in the spring of 2010, with red wines to follow in 2011.

Complementing the delicious wines and ciders of the Valley is Petits Noirs, a boutique chocolatier specializing in chocolate creations inspired by the area’s fresh produce and fine wines. Petits Noirs’ chocolates are hand-made, using only the finest ingredients. The boutique offers distinctive chocolate products, including boxed truffles, chocolate marmalades, hot chocolate and toffee, along with fine teas. Private tasting classes are available by appointment, welcoming guests to take in the wonderful world of chocolate.
