Business and Industry
Ontario is home to over 1,000 retail and service-based businesses, and it is committed to supporting and developing both small and large businesses.
Currently, the Ontario Redevelopment Project is working with the Chamber of Commerce on the revitalization of Ontario’s downtown shopping district. Other development projects are in the works, and there is every indication that growth and prosperity will continue to define business and industry in the area.
There are six major employers in Ontario who employ over 2,500 individuals. Business and industry thrives throughout Malheur County. Government offices alone provide jobs for just over 2,600 people. Other major employers reside outside of Ontario but within Malheur County lines. Small businesses will find information and resources at Treasure Valley Community College’s Small Business Development Center.
