Alverthorpe Park in Jenkintown offers a range of excellent year-round activities, such as a par-three golf course, tennis courts, basketball courts, playground

equipment, fishing on Alverthorpe Lake and picnicking, along with summertime favorites including miniature golf, swimming at the park’s wading pool and camping.

The Briar Bush Nature Center is a fine wildlife refuge that protects and conserves the area’s natural resources, while also providing ample environmental education through on-site and outreach experiences. Trails meander throughout the 12.5-acre nature center, offering an exciting glimpse at a variety of natural habitats. On-site facilities include the Briar Bush Museum — which showcases natural history murals, 30 resident animals, a reference library and a number of interactive displays — the Griscom Bird Observatory and a windmill-fed pond.

Avid golfers of all skill levels relish in the unparalleled offerings of Eastern Montgomery County. The county has more golf courses per square mile than any other county in the nation — distinguishing it as a true golf haven. In addition, many of the county’s courses have been recognized among the finest in the U.S. Notable courses include Huntingdon Valley Country Club, LuLu Country Club, Philmont Country Club, Manufacturers’ Golf and Country Club and Talamore Country Club.
