The historic Keswick Theatre, located in Glenside, is recognized as one of the most active and diversified venues in the region, presenting a calendar year full of nationally and internationally known performers, as well as dozens of shows for school children. Also be sure to visit the Mitchell Performing Arts Center (MPAC), located on the campus of the Academy of the New Church in Bryn Athyn. The Hiway Theatre in Jenkintown presents great cinematic shows—both new and old—and a range of special events and programs, while the Ambler Theater offers a unique experience for audiences. With gorgeous old-style architecture serving as the backdrop, the Ambler Theater presents the latest motion pictures, documentaries and foreign films.
Aside from the cultural attractions of Eastern Montgomery County, the area welcomes sports fanatics looking to catch the game of the day. Nearby Philadelphia is major league in every major professional sport. The 2008 World Champion Phillies (MLB), 76ers (NBA), Eagles (NFL), Flyers (NHL), Phantoms (AHL) and KiXX (NISL) have all made a home in the city. In addition to these popular professional spectator sports, the area’s rich higher learning institutions have made way for an assortment of collegiate sporting events.
