Shopping and Dining
Visitors and residents from all over the region travel to Eastern Montgomery County to take advantage of its array of specialty shops and dining establishments. The county features a multitude of community and neighborhood shopping centers and distinct shopping districts, which offer an unending list of products and services.
Developed on the original site of a well-known Victorian-era amusement park, Willow Grove Park came to life as a large-scale, indoor retail center. The mall is a true shopping haven, drawing in consumers from all over the Philadelphia suburbs. Anchored by Bloomingdale’s, Sears, Macy’s and, coming this year, Nordstrom’s Off the Rack and JCPenney, Willow Grove Park features more than 130 specialty shops and eateries, plus plenty of family-friendly entertainment with the popular Carousel and a calendar year of special events.
Jenkintown’s shopping hub can be found along its “Golden Mile,” an area that is lined with unique boutiques, relaxing spas and salons, charming restaurants and events such as the annual Jazz Fesitval of the Arts featuring art, music, and a brewfest.
Downtown Ambler is fast becoming the place to be for shopping, dining and entertainment. The lively district, supported by the endeavors of the Ambler Main Street organization, showcases distinct, independently-owned shops and restaurants, along with movies at the recently restored Ambler Theater and exciting performances by the professional actors at Act II Playhouse.
Keswick Village is another retail attraction found in Eastern Montgomery County. A host of fantastic restaurants and shops line its streets, while the nationally acclaimed Keswick Theatre lights up the district with concerts and productions by a wide range of nationally and internationally known performers.
Hungry shoppers don’t have to look far to satisfy those cravings, as the county is teeming with an eclectic mix of restaurants and menus to suit even the most particular of diners. Casual eateries are ideal for gatherings of family and friends, while fine dining establishments make that special night out a memorable one. Diners can’t go wrong with the vast culinary selections found in Eastern Montgomery County.
