The Upper Bucks area’s position within the Nature Region of the county furnishes it with peaceful lakes and charming parks, a panoramic countryside backdrop and winding roads spotted with endearing remnants of the region’s past.

Trails for hiking, biking and equestrian use; hunting; picnicking; bird watching; cross-country skiing; sledding; disc golf; and camping are among the diversions supplied in the area’s many exceptional recreational parks. This outdoor lover’s haven also showcases three beautiful lakes, welcoming guests to take advantage of such activities as boating, fishing, canoeing and kayaking. The largest of these three lakes is the 1,450-acre Lake Nockamixon, which is nestled within the 5,283-acre Nockamixon State Park in Quakertown. In addition to the lakes are lovely creeks and the scenic Delaware River, which offers relaxing riverboat tours and a variety of opportunities for water adventures at Bucks County River Country.
A host of golf courses in the region offers golfers of all skill levels a challenge on the greens. The 18-hole private course at the Silver Creek Country Club in Hellertown is a popular choice among golf enthusiasts.

Designed by Donald Ross in 1947, the course features 6,599 yards from the longest tee. Complementing the well-maintained course is a full-service pro shop, delicious dining establishments, catering and special event opportunities, swimming pools, six tennis courts, and a fitness center.
Further recreational programming and facilities are available through the Bucks County Department of Parks and Recreation, as well as the notable Upper Bucks YMCA. This family-oriented organization operates three facilities in the area. Between the two facilities in Quakertown, members have access to a gymnasium, racquetball courts, child care centers, a gymnastics center, a teen center, a wellness center, and a modern family and competition pool (opened in spring of 2009). The Upper Bucks YMCA also manages the Pennridge Program Center in Sellersville, which offers plenty of program space, a summer camp and babysitting services. Aquatics, fitness, adult and youth sports, preschool and child care, and more make up the YMCA’s excellent program list.
When it comes to breathing in fresh air and enjoying the great outdoors, Upper Bucks County is truly unrivaled in the Northeast!
