Upon founding the colony of Pennsylvania, William Penn set out to make his “Holy Experiment” a reality.

In Penn’s eyes, this colony would be a virtuous society welcoming to all belief systems. Fleeing religious persecution, many of the earliest settlers of the nation journeyed to this center for religious tolerance, with many arriving in Upper Bucks County. Since then, a number of distinct places of worship have been established to serve the diverse community that makes up Upper Bucks.
The area’s houses of worship play an integral role in the life of the regional community. With nearly 50 denominations represented, residents and visitors will be able to find a fellowship that supports all faith and worship needs. Supplementing traditional worship services, many of the area’s spiritual institutions offer religious-based education, special worship services, community outreach and volunteer opportunities.
