Upper Bucks Shopping

Come and Get It

The average shopper wants a comprehensive range of brand-name goods conveniently housed in one store and sold for low prices. Upper Bucks County is certainly able to meet those needs, with plenty of big retail stores such as Wal-Mart, Kohl’s, Lowe’s and Kmart in the area. However, it is the selective shopper, the one who seeks high-quality handcrafted goods and hard-to-find items, for whom the county truly is a treasure chest.

Numerous privately-owned businesses offer unique products for considerate consumers. Almanac Goods in Springtown considers itself “a 21st century spin on the general store,” selling new and used goods, many handcrafted and/or natural. International ceramics, designer quilts, soy candles, books, stationery and much more can be found in this rustic yet hip locale. Many a sweet tooth has been satisfied at Ann Hemyng’s Chocolate Factory, where handmade, meticulously designed chocolates in a variety of flavors tantalize the taste buds. The store will also design and create wedding favors, party favors and corporate gifts. Sines 5 & 10 Store was opened in 1912, and is still owned by the original founding family. The store features both convenient goods and hard-to-find items, in addition to an old fashioned lunch counter, a huge model airplane collection and a collection of vintage postcards and area memorabilia.

A charming yet modernized shopping experience can be found at The Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley, a “lifestyle center” which combines one-of-a-kind boutiques with popular fashion stores and other attractions, such as bookstores and movie theaters. On any day of the week, local flavor and national convenience can be found throughout Upper Bucks County.
