Healthcare is a key component of any community and the Susquehanna Valley is no exception. The Valley is fortunate to have excellent healthcare facilities in such close proximity to its residents.

Named one of the top 100 hospitals in the country, Geisinger Medical Center is a 430-bed hospital equipped with the best in technology to diagnose, treat and rehabilitate. Top-notch physicians practice in more than 75 specialties. These medical professionals also have outpatient offices on campus for those patients who do not require hospital services.

The Janet Weis Children’s Hospital at Geisinger Medical Center is the only one of its kind in the region and provides exceptional care to the Valley’s youngest patients. The Women’s Pavilion offers the only fertility center in the region while offering abundant services focused on female health. It is also staffed to handle high-risk pregnancies. A level I trauma center ensures immediate care for emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Geisinger Heart Institute brings outstanding cardiac care to its patients with advanced equipment and procedures, and has been setting standards in coronary artery bypass surgery. The Geisinger Neurosciences Institute has been making strides with stroke care. Other Geisinger facilities in Danville include the Geisinger Medical Center Outpatient Surgery Center, HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital, House of Care and Knapper Clinic.

Evangelical Community Hospital is a not-for-profit hospital serving the Valley for more than 80 years. Its new emergency department features two trauma rooms, 19 private patient rooms, a hazmat/decontamination area and much more. Patients who require less extensive surgical and medical procedures may be eligible for one-day surgery. The 9,500 square-foot Donehower Center has been making advances in oncology treatment that help to eradicate tumors and provide patients a better chance for remission.

The Joint Replacement Center at Evangelical Community Hospital has a fresh approach to joint replacement surgery and rehabilitation. Small groups of patients share in this experience together and form a support system to make the recovery process easier.

The Thyra M. Humphreys Center for Breast Health provides a wide range of services and is staffed by breast surgeons, certified mammographers, a nurse practitioner, a breast health nurse specialist, pathologists, radiologists and other support staff. The Family Place is a maternity department dedicated to the specialized care of mothers and their newborns. Comfortable accommodations and experienced staff create the formula for a pleasant pregnancy and birth. Evangelical Community Hospital’s other services include comprehensive laboratory testing, physical rehabilitation, cardiopulmonary care, a sleep disorder center, hospice, outpatient clinics, pediatrics and more.

Sunbury Community Hospital and Outpatient Center is a 121-bed acute care hospital that has been serving the Valley for more than 110 years. Emergency care, diagnostic imaging, laboratory, respiratory, orthopedic and surgical services are available. The high-quality level of care shows through the dedicated professionals of Sunbury Community Hospital. The Selinsgrove Health Center, affiliated with the hospital, offers easy access to family medicine, laboratory services and other specialties.
