Numerous places of worship are scattered throughout the Susquehanna Valley. Members of these congregations represent the many religions and faiths of the area. Some of these houses of worship have years of history, while others have just recently been constructed.

Residents of the Valley play a vital role in many of the community organizations that can be found here. National organizations operate local branches of their operations in the four counties. The American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Greater Susquehanna Valley United Way, Northumberland County American Red Cross, Ronald McDonald House of Danville Inc., The Salvation Army–Sunbury, Snyder County American Red Cross, Union County American Red Cross and Union County United Way all participate in attending to the welfare of the public.

A number of local entities also fight for the common good. The Susquehanna Valley House of Hope caters to the problems teenagers face in today’s world. Clinical Outcomes Group, Inc. provides youth programs, abuse intervention, drug and alcohol counseling, community and workplace wellness programs, among other services. The Union-Snyder Community Action Agency assists people in poverty situations find shelter, food and other necessities. Keystone Human Services shares their goal to nurture people and help them to become active members of society, no matter their situation.
