Road Map

graphicYou’ll find Wayne County covering 744 square miles of rolling land in the northeast corner of Pennsylvania. Interstates 84 and 380 cross through this region, along with U.S. Route 6 and State Routes 191, 247, 296, 370, 371, 507, 590 and 670. It’s no wonder business and industry see us as a well- connected link to East Coast and Midwest hubs, and private trucking companies have found success for three generations of family leaders.

Sixty percent of the county is woodland, fed by rivers and streams like the Delaware, Lackawaxen, and Wallenpaupack Creek. The elevation, which ranges between 2,656 feet above sea level to 670 feet at the Delaware River, adds to the dramatic landscaping that pleases outdoorsmen.

Honesdale, with a population of roughly 5,200 citizens, serves as the county seat. Overall, Wayne County boasts about 48,392 residents, according to the latest Census Bureau figures. That breaks down to a comfortable 65.4 persons per square mile; occupying 51 communities.

Cherry Ridge Airport, owned by Enger Aviation, serves Honesdale and Wayne County. The paved runway extends for 2,420 feet. The international airport at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre services commercial travel needs.
