North Kingstown is home to several nationally known events which bring thousands of visitors to our community each year. The oldest and perhaps best known is the Wickford Art Festival held in picturesque Wickford village the second weekend in July. This is a juried show with over 250 artist offering a range of art media. Each year the RI Air National Guard is host to the Quonset Air Show which features performances by groups such as the Golden Knights, the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels along with a variety of ground displays for everyone to enjoy. Proceeds from this event are given to Hasbro Childrens Hospital in Providence. Late in the summer,
visitors come from all over the state to enjoy The International Quahog
Festival held on the festival grounds at Duffys Tavern. This event
features a variety of food items featuring Rhode Islands native
quahog, a hard shell clam! Amateurs and professional chefs compete in
the stuffie contest. Childrens activities and music round out the
activities available for all to enjoy. The Festival of Lights is the official beginning of the holiday shopping season in town and is sponsored by the Wickford Village Association. The village comes aglow with millions of lights and a window display contest is held annually. This weekend includes performances by the Lafayette Band , the NK Community Chorus and Community Youth Chorus. Our newest event is a summer and winter Tubafest featuring musicians of all ages coming together for a unique performance in our community.
