The Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System is recognized as an innovative leader in providing health care services to Spartanburg and the surrounding communities. The System is composed of three hospitals: Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in Spartanburg, B.J. Workman Memorial Hospital in Woodruff, and Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care. Also included are the Regional Surgery Center; the Regional Primary Physician Network; the Regional Center for Occupational Medicine; SRMC Home Health Services; Spartanburg County Emergency Medical Services; and a county-wide non-emergency transportation system.

Serving more than 100,000 patients each year, Spartanburg Regional Medical Center is a 588-bed teaching and research hospital. Among its most recognized departments are the Heart Center; the Regional Cancer Center; the Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; the Center for Women; and a 24-hour emergency/trauma center, equipped to treat any type of injury or massive trauma. Founded in 1921, SRMC has earned a reputation for technological excellence throughout the Southeast, while continuously providing the highest quality of care to patients. The hospital consistently meets and exceeds the health care expectations of the community through its recent additions: a free-standing outpatient surgery center, located adjacent to the main campus, and a modern eight-story patient tower with 168 private rooms.

The 43-bed B.J. Workman Memorial Hospital attends to the needs of residents in the southern part of Spartanburg County. Facilities in Woodruff include general medical/surgical care, long-term care for the elderly, and emergency care. Cardiac patients can receive initial treatment at B.J. Workman and, if necessary, transfer to the Heart Center at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center for follow-up care.

Mary Black Memorial Hospital has been providing quality medical care since 1925. Located on Spartanburg’s east side, Mary Black boasts 229 beds including The Birthing Center with 6 LDR and 15 postpartum rooms, and on-staff neonatologists. Mary Black is also noted for pediatric/adolescent services, cardiology services, general medical/surgical care, emergency care, orthopedics, oncology, critical care, post acute care, geropsychiatric services, inpatient and outpatient physical rehabilitation, outpatient surgery, and outpatient educational services. The Professionals, Mary Black’s call center staffed by registered nurses, provides physician referrals, general health information and class registrations. Nearly 90,000 Upstate residents receive their health care services through Mary Black HealthNetwork’s contracted facility arrangements and 259 participating physicians in nearly 100 locations. Mary Black Physician Group provides physician services to the Greater Spartanburg community through more than 80 providers in 28 locations.
