Each of the three counties, Berkeley, Dorchester and Orangeburg, has its own school district.
Berkeley County School District, located in Moncks Corner, contains 37 schools and a K-12 enrollment of 27,478. The district employs more than 3,600 people, too.
Dorchester School District Four is located in St. George. District Four serves five schools: two elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school.
A total of six schools make up Orangeburg Consolidated School District Three in Holly Hill, four of which are elementary. It also has a middle school and high school.
Two other nearby districts include Dorchester School District Two, which resides in Summerville. Orangeburg Consolidated School District Five in Orangeburg operates 14 schools.
Each of the schools contained within these districts aim to provide students with a diverse, well-rounded education.
The region has three private schools close by as well: Bowman Academy, Dorchester Academy, and Holly Hill Academy.
The Tri-County Region is fortunate to be surrounded by several quality colleges and universities that not only its homegrown students can choose from, but that bring students from all over country and world to the state of South Carolina.
Some of these higher education institutions are The Citadel, Claflin University, College of Charleston, Charleston Southern University, Limestone College, Orangeburg-Calhoun Technology College, South Carolina State University, and Trident Technical College.
