With a population of nearly 50,000, DeSoto, an All-America City, is a diverse community of neighborhoods and families where planning for the future is a priority. The Town Center has become an anchor of the community – housing city administrative offices, the recreation center, the civic center, the library, a 180-seat theater and an outdoor amphitheater. In summer 2009, a new mixed-use project will open in Town Center. The project will include 35,600 square feet of retail space, 135 one- and two-bedroom residential units and a 360-space parking garage.
The DeSoto Independent School District enjoys small-town support of academics and athletics, along with taxpayer support for upgraded facilities, technology and instructional support. Businesses and residents are continually attracted to DeSoto’s friendly neighborhoods, where homes range from affordable houses to luxury estates. As the city continues to grow commercially, DeSoto maintains its sense of community through its connected park system and by hosting a variety of festivals. DeSoto’s residents can have it all – in one central location.
