Welcome to Burleson, where promoting excellence in character takes precedence. Establishing a program that will promote character development and encourage the building of stronger families in our community is always on the minds of many citizens and community leaders.
This program has allowed Burleson to become known as a “City of Character.”
Our Goals for the Program:
• We Will learn how character is built into the lives of individuals and emphasize character, not achievement, since achievement by its very nature requires good character;
• We Will establish a community culture that encourages, recognizes and rewards good character;
• We Will endeavor to gain the support of our community leaders in modeling and promoting good character;
• We Will identify the lack of specific character qualities that are the root cause of our social problems;
• We Will adopt character initiatives that apply to each segment (city government, schools, churches, businesses, youth, and other community-based organizations) within our community;
• We Will measure and assess the results of our initiatives on a regular basis to ensure progress toward our goal of becoming a city known for the good character of its citizens.
The Burleson Area Chamber of Commerce, the city of Burleson, the Burleson Independent School District and the Burleson Ministerial Alliance signed a resolution in April 1999 to promote positive character traits throughout the Burleson community. The four entities are charged with the goal of encouraging families and local businesses to embrace the concept of promoting and acknowledging good character in their personal and professional lives.
