Recreation

In a thriving family-friendly city like Burleson, recreation facilities and parks are vital to the quality of life enjoyed by Burleson residents. The city maintains 18 parks with a total acreage of 348 acres of developed parkland.

The City of Burleson Recreation Department offers a myriad of activities and classes, which range from tumbling and dance to computer training and aerobics. For those who are athletically inclined, the Parks department offers softball, volleyball and basketball leagues. The Community Center Gymnasium boasts a hardwood floor that is available for both the resident and non-resident. The Center also has meeting rooms that are available for private functions. The Chisenhall Community Center is the hub of all the department's activities and the staff can be reached by calling 817-295-8168. For our older residents, Burleson has a Senior Activity Center located at 216 SW Johnson Ave. The Senior Activity Center is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Burleson’s New State-of-the-Art Recreation Center
The Burleson Recreation Center is a 65,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art fitness facility, community center and natatorium. The building includes two gyms, a large aerobics/dance room, two large meeting rooms and babysitting facilities. The natatorium includes a five-lane indoor pool, lazy river, spiral slide, water playground and two party rooms. While the indoor pool will be open year-round, there is also an outdoor pool for seasonal enjoyment. Upstairs, there is an indoor jogging track, a free weight area, two strength circuits and more than 40 pieces of cardio equipment. Scheduled to be completed in late March 2010, the Burleson Recreation Center will be an impressive facility offering recreational and educational opportunities for all ages. For more information on this facility, contact the Burleson Parks & Recreation Department at 817-295-8168.

Burleson Library
The Burleson Library offers to enlighten and educate every age group. From weekly story readings for children to a teen anime program to adult book clubs, the library does for your mind what the recreation center does for your body. The Burleson Library is also the home for the “Bricks for Veterans” program; a way to honor our country’s veterans who have ties to the City of Burleson.
