With a competitive tax rate and a skilled professional workforce, Burleson is a vibrant part of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, which is an international center of commerce. In addition, Burleson’s growing business and residential base means housing, retail and office space, and industrial sites are available. The city has an estimated current population of 27,650, and was ranked as the fastest growing city in Tarrant County – according to the Fort Worth Business Press Book of Lists.
Businesses expanding or relocating to Burleson may be eligible for refunds on some state sales taxes. The Texas Department of Commerce has designated a portion of Burleson as an Enterprise Zone, which means the state portion of the sales tax refunds applies to sales taxes paid on building materials and lease or purchase of machinery and equipment.

Some businesses may also be eligible for property tax abatements, franchise tax reductions, assistance in the preparation and submission of applications for job training and capital, and state grant preferences.
Keeping its residents safe and providing them with the best services available are also top priorities for the city. For instance, the Police Department has set a goal to cut down on response time, which helps maintain Burleson’s low crime rate. Also, the Burleson City Hall (expanded in 1997) is a user-friendly facility with greater interior space, more parking and a pleasing environment in which to conduct business. The building’s appearance complements the architecture and atmosphere of the surrounding historic district.
Finally, businesses can utilize some property tax advantages when their projects qualify for the Texas Capital Fund. Money is available only through applications made for eligible cities, such as Burleson. With the fund, costs for engineering/architectural services incurred prior to the approval of an application can now be designated for reimbursement.
Funding comes in the form of a grant or a no-interest loan. Burleson has access to a pool of economic development funds administered by the state.
