Burleson Education

Teacher

Since the days in which all grades met in a single building, the Burleson Independent School District (BISD) has grown to include seven elementary schools, two middle schools, an alternative educational school, a $25 million state-of-the-art high school, and a $7.9 million football stadium.

In addition, Burleson is home to a Hill College Campus and a Texas Wesleyan Campus. In a short 20-minute drive from downtown Burleson there are more than 40 private parochial schools and numerous universities and colleges.

Located away from the urban district problem, BISD provides an exceptional curriculum, advanced technology and instructional equipment, and forward thinking leadership that makes teaching a rewarding career.

The curriculum is designed to stay on the cutting edge of educational innovation, and it offers special niches for the academically gifted, the mentally and emotionally disabled, the physically challenged and the athletically skilled.

The Texas Education Agency has recognized BISD for outstanding achievement two years in a row. Only six other school districts with similar enrollments of more than 6,000 were so honored (out of 1,056 in Texas). Also, BISD is nationally ranked for test scores, teacher/pupil ratios, and encouraging and nurturing children. Several of the elementary schools, the middle schools, and Burleson High School have recently been recognized for outstanding achievement by TAAS (Texas Assessment of Academic Skills). Achievements included the schools’ high test scores, low dropout rates, and high student attendance.
