Burleson is located just 12 miles south of downtown Fort Worth, only 35 miles southwest of Dallas and just 175 miles north of our state capitol in Austin. Its location relative to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex allows Burleson to retain its distinct personality while still being an integral part of the economic development enjoyed in North Texas. Situated on the I-35 corridor and only minutes from I-20 and State Highway 67, Burleson is an ideal location for business and residential development. Burleson residents have quick access in all directions for employment, entertainment or business opportunities outside of the city’s limits.
Interstate I-35, a designated NAFTA superhighway, runs 10 miles through Burleson’s city limits. IH-35 is a critical connector running north to Duluth, Minnesota and south to our furthermost border in Laredo, Texas. I-35 connects with State Highway 174, an important economic artery extending through Burleson. SH 174 is undergoing TX-DOT improvements scheduled for completion in 2014 which include a boulevard-style center median, designated turn lanes, synchronized stoplights and landscape beautification.
In 2014, the North Texas Toll Authority will open the Chisholm Trail Parkway, a freeway connecting Burleson, southwest Fort Worth and Cleburne and opening new development opportunities along its corridor.
Spinks Airport abuts Burleson’s northern city limits and serves as a general aviation reliever for the Metroplex. More than 200 aircraft are based at this facility, which offers a full-service FBO, multiple maintenance facilities and three flight schools. Car rental and hotel facilities are only minutes away. In 2010, Spinks underwent nearly $20 million in capital improvements and is a first-class regional airport.
Fort Worth Alliance Airport is located 30 miles north of Burleson and is the first 100 percent industrial airport in the nation. Alliance is part of the 17,000-acre AllianceTexas development, which includes a Foreign Trade Zone and intermodal facilities supporting rail, interstate and air transportation.
DFW International Airport is located 40 miles northeast of Burleson. With more than 2,000 flights per day, DFW is the fourth-busiest airport in the world, serving more than 57 million passengers annually. It services most major carriers and is the main hub for American Airlines.
