Having the Time of Your Life
Everyone aged 55 and over is welcome at the DeSoto Senior Activity Center, where active seniors of today can participate in a variety of activities in a smoke-free environment. The center, located at 204 Lion Street, provides many recreational and social opportunities: the congregant meal program, blood pressure screenings, games, dances, entertainment, travel, exercise, cultural events, volunteer opportunities, nutrition and health education.
Center membership is limited to adults aged 55-plus and their spouse. The DeSoto Senior Activity Center is not a medical or limited care facility for the elderly. It is required that patrons are self-sufficient with the ability to function independently.
Transportation to and from the center is available to DeSoto Residents aged 55 and over living within the DeSoto city limits. The center provides transportation from the Senior Activity Center to Wal-Mart, the grocery store and bread store, the DeSoto Public Library, the Dollar Store, bank, post office and pharmacy. A hot nutritious lunch is served daily, Monday through Friday, at 11:30 a.m.
Day and evening trips are planned throughout each month, several overnight trips are scheduled throughout the year. Dances are held the fourth Saturday of each month, and educational seminars, offering a wide variety of interesting topics, are presented throughout the month, as are special events.
