There are ample opportunities for fun and entertainment in Ennis, and there are several family festivals throughout the year. Ennis, the “Official Bluebonnet City” and the “Official Bluebonnet Trail of Texas,” is well-known for its 40 miles of mapped trails of breathtaking bluebonnets in the spring.
Thousands of visitors come to Ennis each April to enjoy the beautiful bluebonnets and wildflowers and specifically visiting the annual Bluebonnet Trails Festival, hosted by the Ennis Garden Club.
Every year, Ennis hosts its largest city festival, the National Polka Festival, which commemorates its rich Czechoslovakian heritage. Enjoy over 13 live polka bands, authentic Czech cuisine, arts and crafts, the Czech Museum, Polkafest run, and much more. The National Polka Festival is held annually on Memorial Day Weekend.
Another favorite attraction includes the Texas Motorplex, one of the finest quarter mile drag racing facilities in the nation and home of the track speed record of 333.95 miles per hour. The Motorplex holds over 90 events annually, including the annual NHRA Fall Nationals auto racing event, with 500,000 fans visiting the ractetrack annually.
Other attractions include the 85 speedway, rodeo events, the Ennis Railroad and Cultural Heritage Museum, and the Lights of Ennis. Visitors also enjoy tours and shopping in the Historic District.
