Ennis Independent School District, serving approximately 6,000 students, is made up of four elementary schools, Ennis Early Childhood Center, one intermediate school, a sixth grade center, junior high, and high school. Ennis ISD attributes its students’ success to a comprehensive curriculum combined with strong parental involvement.

Ennis High School has been recognized as among the top 100 in the nation, for its high standards, challenging curriculum, and quality staff. In addition to its rigorous academics, EHS athletics offer an exciting complement. The EHS football team won its third state football championship in five years in 2004, and the other sports are equally competitive.

Ennis also offers a number of respected private and parochial schools as an alternative to a public education, including St. John’s Catholic School. There are also a great number of public and private universities within the nearby area, as well as technical and trade schools.

Students and residents alike have at their disposal a fine resource for learning in the Ennis Public Library. The library has 40,000 volumes available, in addition to a state-of-the-art audio/visual learning center, electronic resources, and many events and programs.
