Welcome to Fredericksburg, a favorite place to visit, a great place to do business, and the very best place to live! The spirit of living in Fredericksburg, whether for a weekend or a lifetime, unfolds through our German culture, warm hospitality, diverse business offerings and abundant activities.
Six generations of my family have called Gillespie County home. My great-grandparents came to Texas from Germany in the 1800s. I can hardly imagine how that little settlement among the rugged hills must have looked through their eyes – a brave new world filled with opportunity and promise. There’s no doubt the land they helped tame looks remarkably different today, yet in terms of opportunity and promise, the brave new world still boldly endures.
Visitors to Fredericksburg will find an experience that constantly evolves. The community has long been known for its unique shopping, great attractions, charming bed & breakfasts and sweet, juicy peaches. Numerous wineries, an amazing assortment of art galleries, live theater offerings and fine dining have added a rich cultural enhancement.
Small business is the backbone of Fredericksburg’s economy. The Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce proudly represents more than 800 members through advocacy, education, networking, promotion and communication. Understanding and supporting the business community is our number one priority and the reason we chose “Open for business since 1920” as our Chamber’s slogan.
Many of our residents are visitors who decided to stay! And who can blame them? The combination of scenic beauty, deep historical roots, growing economy, and access to education and healthcare is a powerful lure. Fredericksburg offers the value and charm of small-town living, yet all of the “big city” amenities are within an hour’s drive.
We hope you enjoy this beautiful place. We’re confident we’ll be welcoming you back – it’s up to you how long you stay!
