Hereford is ideally located in the Texas Panhandle where U.S. Highway 60 (from coast to coast) and U.S. Highway 385 (from Canada to Mexico) intersect. With an altitude of 3,800 feet above sea level and a mean temperature of 57degrees F, Hereford can offer year-round travel with minimal foul weather.

Airport - The Hereford Municipal Airport has a 5,400 foot paved runway, unicom, lighted homing beacon and VASI approach for IFR. The airport is capable of landing any business jet made. Maintenance shop services are available.

Bus Line - Hereford is served by the TNM & O Transportation Company.

Railroads - The Burlington Northern Santa Fe operates on two parallel lines.

Motor Freight - ICX, Tex Pack Express, Santa Fe Freight and Red Arrow Central.

Inner city transportation: The Panhandle Transit, a division of the Panhandle Community Services, is available to the general public for $2.00 per round trip anywhere in the county. This service is also available to Deaf Smith County residents for transportation to Amarillo medical facilities for $17.70 per round trip. Dialysis patients in outlying areas such as Dimmit, Friona and Hart may travel by Panhandle Transit for treatment. This service is equipped with two large (15 passenger capacity, wheel chair equipped) vans and one smaller station wagon which remains in town at all times.
