

Located five miles south of Waco in McLennan County, Hewitt is the home of approximately 13,000 residents. Encompassing 6.86 square miles (4,389.44 acres) south of Waco, between Interstate 35 and U.S. Highway 84, Hewitt is less than 100 miles from Dallas and Ft. Worth to the north and Austin to the south. Hewitt residents enjoy convenient access to Texas’ major hubs of industry, culture and business, as well as small surrounding cities including Woodway, McGregor, Robinson and Lorena.
Motor freight is actively served by more than 20 common motor carriers. Single carrier service is available to 32 MSAs in the southwest, with an overnight radius for motor carriers of 400 miles.
Having been built through the efforts of the railroad, Hewitt still relies on rail service for industrial, as well as recreational, travel. The Union Railroad runs through the center of Hewitt, while industrial railroad tracks pass the northern portion of the city. The Greater Hewitt-Waco area is also serviced by Burlington Northern Santa Fe.
Locally, Hewitt is served by the Waco Regional Airport, General Aviation/TSTC and McGregor Municipal Airport. Waco Regional offers passenger service by American Eagle and Continental Connection. The Dallas-Ft. Worth International and Austin-Bergstrom International airports are both located within a 90-minute drive of Hewitt.
