Parks & Recreation
Numerous recreational and cultural opportunities are available in the areas surrounding the Hewitt community. Hewitt residents value the availability of outdoor recreation, and Hewitt provides two parks to its citizens. Hewitt Park and Warren Park provide wonderful outdoor recreational opportunities for the community. Both parks are great for family reunions, club picnics or just taking the children to play.
Hewitt Park, located at 801 Hewitt Drive, is situated on Castleman Creek and has a picnic area, a ball diamond, a soccer/football field, playgrounds, two covered shelters, a 0.5-mile walking track and a covered pavilion.
Warren Park, located just off of Old Temple Road, on the banks of Castleman Creek, was named after Mr. Homer Warren. Mr. Warren is a long-time resident and community leader of Hewitt. Warren Park has picnic areas, a ball diamond, a soccer field, playgrounds, a covered shelter and a covered pavilion.
The park pavilions may be rented for $40.00 for the first four hours and $10.00 for each additional hour. There are special weekday arrangements for non-profit groups and a 10 percent discount for Hewitt residents. Lake Waco, the largest urban lake in Texas, is only 10 minutes from Hewitt and offers 12-square-acre miles for fishing, boating and water sports. Whitney, Belton and Stillhouse Hollow Lakes are all within an hour’s drive. The mild climate of Central Texas allows plenty of time to take advantage of all types of outdoor activities.
Hewitt Community Center
The Hewitt Community Center is located at 208 Chama Drive, next door to the Police Station. It is a great place to host various events. It was designed and built for use by civic groups and organizations, as well as for wedding receptions, birthdays and holiday activities. The Community Center consists of one large room and four smaller rooms that can each be converted into two rooms. It also contains a full kitchen, foyer and restroom facilities.
