McLennan County’s rapid population increase has made Hewitt a most desirable place for business.
Hewitt’s proximity to IH-35 provides for easy access to the rest of the state and nation. Rail service from the Santa Fe railway also connects Hewitt to major distribution centers. The 900-acre McGregor Municipal Airport, only 15 minutes away, provides air service for single and multi-engine aircraft, as well as helicopters. Waco Regional Airport is served by two commercial airlines.
McLennan County offers businesses an educated, young labor force with a solid work ethic and a variety of skills. In addition to a good labor supply and access to transportation, businesses enjoy a low tax rate.
To further encourage growth, there is an attractive tax abatement policy currently available. This policy includes both new and existing businesses within Hewitt’s city limits and is a positive step in the city’s continuing efforts to increase Hewitt’s commercial and industrial growth.
