Kingsville’s economic base is comprised of a healthy mixture of commercial, manufacturing and governmental entities. This business-friendly city encourages development and expansion, and organizations such as the Kingsville Economic Development Council and Chamber of Commerce spur and encourage this growth. Kingsville business resources include a Foreign Trade Zone, an Enterprise Zone, job training programs, multiple industrial parks and a qualified workforce. Here are some recent statistics that show how we have grown over the last few years:
• Retail sales in Kleberg County have increased by $125-million over the past four years (source: State Comptroller).
• Kleberg County property tax values have risen 16% over the same timeframe (source: Kingsville EDC).
• Kleberg County’s 3.7% unemployment rate in April 2007 was below both the state (3.9%) and national averages (4.3%) (source: Kingsville EDC).
There are also services available for companies looking to establish or expand upon their businesses. The Chamber of Commerce works closely with a variety of organizations, including the Small Business Development Center and Small Business Administration, to ensure the continued success and strength of our member businesses. One effort of this collaboration is a Chamber resource guide entitled, On the Road to Success: Starting Your Small Business in Kingsville. Feel free to contact us for your copy. In addition, the many types of financial institutions allow for a perfect fit with your personal and business banking needs. From large, nationwide banks to local community banks, financial packages are available to help start new businesses or expand existing ones, obtain a home loan or open a child’s first savings account.
