Educational excellence is the primary objective for our various school districts, including the Kingsville Independent School District (ISD), Santa Gertrudis ISD, Riviera ISD and Ricardo ISD. Our school districts all share a commitment to high standards and continuous improvement.
Kingsville ISD is the largest district served by the Kingsville Chamber of Commerce and offers a comprehensive Pre-K through 12th grade program. The Kingsville ISD mission is to effectively utilize all available resources to provide students the skills and knowledge to achieve their maximum potential. Kingsville ISD is committed to graduate productive citizens and lifelong learners prepared to compete in the 21st century.
Kingsville ISD employs a highly qualified teaching staff to meet the needs of all students. It is divided into three clusters at the primary level (Pre-K-1) and two zones at the elementary (2-4 grade). Secondary campuses consist of one intermediate school (5-6 grade), one middle school (7-8 grade) and one high school (9-12 grade). Several of the elementary schools have received recognized ratings. Kingsville ISD also provides an alternative high school program that offers non-traditional, computer-based instruction.
Kingsville ISD continues to strive for high standards in academics and extracurricular activities while ensuring well-maintained and well-equipped facilities. In the fall of 2005, Gillette Intermediate opened a new state-of-the-art facility. The Gillette Intermediate campus offers students the opportunity for hands-on learning as well as the latest in science and technology.
In 1994, the Santa Gertrudis and Driscoll Independent School Districts joined together in an effort to create a bold new concept for high school education. These two Pre-K through 8th grade school districts formed a partnership with Texas A&M University-Kingsville to develop Academy High. Academy operates under the leadership of Santa Gertrudis ISD and serves students in grades 9-12 from several South Texas communities. The curriculum is offered year-round and utilizes a non-traditional, self-paced approach to meet the individual needs of the students. Applications for transfer are accepted.
Riviera ISD, located in the southern tip of Kleberg County, offers a comprehensive Pre-K through 12th grade public school program in a rural setting, with a teacher-student ratio of 1:12. Riviera ISD takes pride in its strong FFA program and winning athletic teams. It also has a wide variety of course offerings, including Pre-AP and AP classes and dual credit college classes at Coastal Bend College. The high quality of Riviera ISD is the best-kept secret in South Texas.
Ricardo ISD is centrally located within a small farming community in Kleberg County and serves grades Pre-K through 8. Ricardo has received exemplary ratings, and its school board has been recognized for its outstanding performance.
