Government

Lake Travis falls into the West Command Center of the Travis County Sheriff’s Department. They are responsible for public safety and law enforcement in the unincorporated areas of Travis County.

The City of Bee Cave is governed by a Mayor and five Council Members. Installed on October 1, 2005, the Bee Cave police force was set in place in order to ensure the safety of city residents, businesses and visitors.

The City of Lakeway is governed by a Mayor and six Council Members. The Chief of Police and 30 officers keep businesses, residents and visitors safe and secure.

Briarcliff is governed by two governing bodies: The Briarcliff Property Owners Association (BPOA) and the Village of Briarcliff. The Briarcliff Property Owners Association has a nine-member board of directors. Each board member serves a three-year term with three new board members elected each year. The Village of Briarcliff operates under a Mayor and Council of five aldermen. Fire and medical services are provided by the Pedernales Emergency Services.

The Travis County Emergency Services District Six covers 200 square miles of dynamic topography including lakes, vast rural areas and heavily populated suburban and emerging urban communities, including the cities of Bee Cave and Lakeway. Currently, the district is serviced with five fully staffed and operating fire stations. The District provides fire suppression, basic and advanced medical first response, hazard material mitigation and prevention/code enforcement through standardized delivery models. The District is always developing new and innovative ways to improve service delivery, public education and customer satisfaction.
