The Lake Travis Independent School District comprises most of the major educational facilities in the region. Made up of five elementary schools, two middle schools and a high school, the mission of the Lake Travis Independent School District is to educate all students by teaching a comprehensive curriculum that emphasizes scholastic excellence. Serving around 5,850 students, the projected enrollment for the years to come are estimated to hit nearly 7,000 by 2010 and around 9,000 by 2015.
Schools in the district include Lakeway Elementary School, Lake Pointe Elementary School, Bee Cave Elementary, Lake Travis Elementary, Lake Travis Middle School, Hudson Bend Middle School and Lake Travis High School. The addition of Serene Hills Elementary is expected to open its doors in August of 2008.

Lake Travis High School is an inclusive high school serving approximately 1,773 students. With more than 190 course selections and over 50 student clubs and organizations, the school also offers a strong athletic program with the opportunity to participate in 17 competitive sports. In fact, the high school’s football team recently won the state championship for 4A schools! Students also have the opportunity to participate in band, drill team, color guard, cheerleading, choir, orchestra, debate, theater, and UIL academic activities.
A multi-year, $126,830,000 school bond was approved in September of 2005, with the aim to facilitate needed renovations and expansion of Lake Travis High School, the construction of a fifth elementary school—Serene Hills Elementary— to be opened in August of 2008, extensions of the district’s two middle schools—Lake Travis and Hudson Bend—and land investment for potential growth and facilities.
While the Lake Travis Independent School District is the primary educational network in western Travis County, there are a variety of private institutions, preschools and daycare facilities as well.
